i recently noticed that on my R-D1 with any lens, when I try to focus to infinity - with the focus ring turned all the way to infinity, the coupling in the viewfinder is a bit off.

When I to try to get the coupling aligned, the pics are not as sharp as if i just turned the focus ring to infinity, even though in the viewfinder is not focused, the images are sharp.

Is there a way I can recalibrate the camera?

Are you sure your eye is centred over the focusing spot in the viewfinder? Otherwise it can seen a bit off. It is normal for most rangefinders to focus Very Slightly beyond infinity to allow for thermal expansion, but I find it is hardly noticable on my R-D1 with the eye centred and not enough so that it would give a focus error at infinity even at full apertures.

Have you checked the focus accuracy at other distances and with more than one lens? Try the ruler test close up.

If you are still having problems there are a number of other threads here about adjusting the rangefinder on the R-D1. Try a search on "Rangefinder Aligment" or "Rangefinder Adjustment". If in warranty Epson have repaired/replaced peoples cameras here for this problem or others have used DAG as above.
