Since I am new to Leica range finders I have a question. My M8 I have had for 24 hours. I notice that the split image shows that I am out of focus at infinity. At three feet the pictures are in focus when the camera view finder indicates that they are in focus but anything past 150 feet the view finder split image won't line up. Is this the way they are supposed to be.

No, that is not the way it is supposed to be. You should be able to align the rangefinder patches at any distance. The rangefinder mechanism is out of alignment.

Glenn--My M8 had the same issue out of the box with both of my lenses. The infinity adjustment for your M8 is really easy to do with a 2mm allen wrench. (The moon is the suggested infinity target for adjustments.) Yes, it's annoying that it isn't adjusted correctly "out of the box" but the fix is painless.
