Is there an easy and safe way to disable the infinity lock on the S2 when using the 5cm f1.4 lens. I find it really annoying!

theres an article on the net showing how to clean the helicoids of the Nikon S2. there is a claw that that engages the helicoid when in the infinity position. You can remove the whole lever including the claw by unscrewing it. i dont recommend doing this

mounting an external mount lens will probably damage anything if the lock isnt engaged.

Hmm. Sounds ominous. Thanks for the response though.

I look forward to seeing the update. I was actually hoping for more of a hack solution, if anyone has found one? Lol

just insert a collar over the hole so it pushes on the lever all the time

Do you mean on the front of the camera, between the lens and the infinity lock release? Like a wedge between them?

I disabled the infinity lock on my SP by using some gaffer tape looped around the linkage, and secured to the two posts that support the front plate under the Nikon logo.
Simple and easy, and the finger dial still works although I don’t use it.
