Infinity lock disable on S2

theres an article on the net showing how to clean the helicoids of the Nikon S2. there is a claw that that engages the helicoid when in the infinity position. You can remove the whole lever including the claw by unscrewing it. i dont recommend doing this :eek::eek: mounting an external mount lens will probably damage anything if the lock isnt engaged.

i will append that article in the coming months with a complete S2 overhaul article. you will know what i mean when you see it :eek::eek:

Do you mean on the front of the camera, between the lens and the infinity lock release? Like a wedge between them?

Yes. just get a piece of stuff rubber and cut it into shape. i have done this before and another one over the hole for the times when i am using a tele lens.:eek::eek: accurate focusing is critical when using tele lenses

I've been using a scrap of oring to hold the lock open. Works fine.

I disabled the infinity lock on my SP by using some gaffer tape looped around the linkage, and secured to the two posts that support the front plate under the Nikon logo.

Simple and easy, and the finger dial still works although I don’t use it.
