I always knew that I could knock some teeth out with my M7 if I had to, but I never expected to injure myself with it. I was walking around with my Leica in my hand, and I slipped and fell. I never drop my cameras because I'm really good at keeping a good grip on them. Instead, I managed to land on my side, and I busted my lip open on the top plate as my head came down towards my right arm that was holding the camera. I got blood all over my face, but the camera was completely fine. I almost knocked my teeth out, but I got lucky that I didn't hit the camera too hard. Anyone else have any injuries from their equipment?

Wouldn't have happened with a Bessa 😉

Bill

I don't know if the term 'equipment' will stretch this far, but i did get a fat lip once by a falling copy of Friedlander's Museum of Modern Art tome. That thing is heavy (physically & aesthetically)! Had a good time explaining that one..

Just tore a big chunk of skin off my thumb removing a lens from my fathers old Mamiya Sekor 1000TL, still working perfectly after nearly twenty years in storage (the camera, not my thumb).

What`s wrong with me when i read some of the posts I thought "Thanks god nothing happened!" and I thought about the camera.....I read in another thread that Nan Goldin fell into an empty pool and her first thought was about her Leica. She broke her wrist and it came out as if she did so only because she protected her camera

Actually, I've recently invested the price of an M8 in a dental implant and crown. Glad I could make the budget stretch to cover it, because the alternative wasn't very comfortable.

Wow. In the US a single-tooth implant plus a crown would range between $2-3K unless there were other complicating issues. As a plus, I bet you could find a few dentists who would let you barter with Leica gear 😀

As long as the camera was alright.

What's the first question you ask a motorcyclist when he / she tells you they've had an accident? "Is the bike OK?"

I was once drinking with some friends out in the woods when I was a teenager. Some unsavory characters snuck up on us and robbed us at gunpoint, shoving the gun in our faces and forcing us to lie down on the ground (I'd bet it was a fake, anyway).

I did not spill my beer.
