Hi - I have an Epson inkjet printer (TX720WD) and have recently been experimenting with different kinds of papers. Epson paper is fine, as is Ilford glossy, smooth pearl and fine art but I cannot get gold fibre silk to load (the paper stays in the tray and I get an error suggesting a jam or no paper). I get the same problem with Somerset papers.

Most annoying is that once the problem occurs I cannot get even the standard epson paper to print correctly. I'm still troubleshooting but it seems to take a few hours before any paper will load and print correctly at all.

Anybody else came across this kind of problem? I thought perhaps these problem papers are too thick for the transport mechanism...

thanks,
Richard.

I know nothing about your particular printer, but I would suspect that the problem is due to the thickness of the paper. My Epson R3000 (and other higher end printers) has a platen adjustment for exactly this reason.

I don't know your model of printer so I'll guess...
If the paper is thicker you may need to put it in a different feed slot? The normal sheet feed will be OK for most papers but some printers have a thick paper slot for this reason.

Also some printers just can't use thicker paper, I have seen some cheaper Epsons max out at 160gsm
Just a thought, check your manual for maximum paper thickness...

I looked up your printer on the Epson website. It does not appear that it is compatible with the heavy and thick types of media. While you may get some of these types of papers to feed, it's unlikely the results would be worth the effort.
