I just purchased a used Domke f-803 and now looking for a fa-230 3-compartment padded insert or equivalent. I read that the Safrotto ca-700, a clone of the f-803, has a better insert. Does the ca-700 insert fit the Domke f-803? A Bay seller listed the Safrotto specs and it seems it is thicker than the f-803. Where I can I buy the Safrotto insert? Are there other inserts that fit the f- 803? Thanks.

I have a navy blue Domke F-803 (nice gift from a friend) and it's fitted with an insert having three compartments, all the same size. FWIW this insert is made of green padded nylon fabric and was made in Korea. It's not made by Domke but was specifically designed for the F-803, no doubt. But I have no idea where it comes from.

I bought a generic F-803 insert from JimmyA at Midwest Photo Exchange.

Works great. Cheap and no downside after years and years of use.

For some really good protection, check out the Billingham Hadley Pro insert. I use it with my F803 and it's fantastic

Thanks. The size seems compatible but have to think about the price. I know it will be a good investment to protest my gear.

I use a J-803 and have purchased two differrent inserts on Ebay using the interior measurements from Domke. First I got one of the orange felt 3-compartment inserts. Now I use one made of identical rip-stop nylon as my bag. Both are excellent.

I'd definitely look on Ebay for one of the right size with free shipping.

BTW, I also had a luggage repair shop replace the metal clasp with a heavy duty snap clip from an old bag. A really good improvement.

Thanks John. I tried eBay but cannot find correct size. What is the make of your rip stop nylon or the seller?

I have improved mine by removing one of the 2 separations, ending up with 1/3rd + 2/3rd compartments. This make a very versatile bag.
