Hi guys. First time posting in Nikkor section because I just bought my first Nikkor RF lens--Nikkor-S 5cm f1.4 + Amedeo adapter. Is there a way to inspect the quality for these two items? I found that, up close, there is a lot more details but glow like crazy wide-open. Step down to f2, it can render much sharper details. Beyond 10m away though, the lens is not sharp even at f5.6. Is this normal? Thanks!

This lens is optimized for close-ups re. vignetting and resolution and actually glows like crazy wide-open at whatever focusing distance. The difference between f/1.4 and f/2 is actually huge in that respect so using it at f/1.4 isn't very interesting unless you really need that extra f-stop.

Until there, normal 100%.

Then, if not sharp even at f/5.6 beyond 10m away, this is not normal.

Might that Amedeo adapter not be a Contax->Leica one instead of a Nikon->Leica one ?

You have 2 variables, the Nikkor and the Amedeo adapter. If still not sharp after testing at 5.6 & infinity, could you try the Nikkor on a Nikon RF? at least you'll identify the problem.

That's exactly the way mine is--well I don't know if it will make 10 meters. A cursorary glance at a full size image and you might think it's OK, but if you look close the lens is not sharp at long infinity (meaning my lens), while the CZJ 50/1.5 is quite sharp in the centers at the same range.

However at portrait range my copy is superb, with excellent sharpness.

Dante Stella mentions this, but in regard to wide open performance.

this is APS-C with amedeo adapter. I can't think how amedeo adapter would effect anything but RF focus--but please correct me.

I use the Amedeo adapter with the Millenium Nikkor (yes, Jon-san, thank you for the heads up 2 years ago) it is extremely sharp.
