I am attempting to setup Win 2k on a hard drive that had Linux installed. I wiped the drive and ran the 2k install but on restart it is looking for the Linux grub and will not start Windows.

How do I get rid of grub so I can get 2k running.

This drive will only have 2k on it..

boot into dos mode and run fdisk /mbr on the disk. It will rewrite the master boot record.

No need for DOS, especialy if you don't have it :)

This can be fixed with the win2k CD

W2K Recovery Console

more about that

You can use fixboot to fix the boot sector from the CD without installing it, but it may help in other situations.

you might be able to do the same through the BIOS, Erase Boot Partition or something like that.

:)

My Win 98 startup disk must be bad since it would not work when doing fdisk /mbr and I never thought to use the restore function of the Win 2k disk. I got it up and running though.

Thanks for the help..
