Forget Hassy... it shouts Instax backs for Rolleis!!![]()
harder to build but I'd love one.
Now, this is news!

Great format! Let's just hope the new monochrome emulsion will be offered in this format as well. Id really like an Instax back for the SLX!

hmm. An Instax film back for my SWC would be darn cool. As would an Impossible back as well. I wonder if it could be done...

It's kinda lame how they trying to sell it as artistic and trying to support photographers but are willing to kill an entire format.
Would prefer that they kept 100c alive and bring back 3000b.
Or
Make it the same exact size as the impossible film to work in all the Polaroids.

Even more evidence that Fuji was *totally* right in their assessment that the market doesn't need FP-100C due to low demand
From the Fuji datasheets: resolving power:
FP100C 15 lines/mm
Instax: 10 lines/mm
Even FP100C isn't vry great, but compared to Instax it is visibly better. And there are a lot of decent cameras available compared to a couple of plastic lens things with something that has to pass for a viewfinder.
I could understand the need to go to Instax because of chemistry or production reasons. But not keeping it compatible is just silly. (I can understand it, they earn much more if you buy an Instax camera than if you buy film and put it in another camera)

Methinks it would be very tough to achieve a Hassy back for this. Essentially you would hack an instax camera, remove the lens assembly and mate it to the back of the hassy. The biggest problem is that the hassy backs film plane is something like 2mm recessed and that gives you little room to work.
Rollei TLRs would be even harder because the film plane is within the body.
Not sure what other 6x6 cameras have it better in this situation.

Thanks. I'm using the adapter lens from a Lomo Diana Instant to move the flange depth back by the few mm needed to accommodate the Instax film cartridge. Without that you lose infinity focus and end up with a focus range of about 0.5m to 3m. The initial testing I've done using the adapter lens looks good for sharpness although the surround can cause vignetting so I need to make a new one.

Is it possible that this thing is using a mirror lens?

That's possibly a selfie mirror. I recall some old feature phones had a tiny fingernail sized silver thing that might have been a mirror: See yourself? So will the end shot.New pictures of the camera are out....

Is it me or it looks like 1990's whizbang mashed with some 60 retrofuturistic curves?

Looks like a printer-first-camera-second combo device. I really hope they are not doing this - capturing the image on some tiny sensor and then printing it on Instax film? Might be popular, though. People printing their Instagram snaps on Instax square film and still have some kind of a camera when they want to skip the phone part.
If it's not a printer, why the large screen on the back?

Maybe they are building the ultimate image sharing device with social media connectivity built in so you can shoot a pic, get the instant picture, and upload to instagram all in one push of a button.

I can't see an optical viewfinder? Perhaps the LCD is for framing as well as shooting options selected with those buttons on the back. If only Fuji catered to enthusiasts and produced instant camera models with quality lenses, and accurate viewfinders.
Impossible seems to me the better option in the meanwhile, as long as they keep improving their product (and no reason why they shouldn't). I hope this new Fuji doesn't eat into Impossible's market, I think BLKRCAT has a point, it would be bad news if Impossible went under leaving us with a smaller format, albeit with more stable film product. OTOH it might be that this new film/camera will help to grow the instant film market as a whole, and Impossible benefits too. I hope so.
Meanwhile I think this new camera and format will be another Fuji success story.

Hi Lynn,
How about my Land Camera 250? Is its lens any better than the lens in a Fuji? Just curious. Of course, no new film exists for the Land camera.:bang:
