I've seen plenty of posts of people on this site mentioning cameras getting stolen. I have also suffered this travesty, and can say that in ten minutes it's very easy to loose a very big investment. Anyways so I was wondering if anyone here knows of a good way to get an insurance policy for cameras. I know alot of times their covered with homeowners policies, but I rent, and live in another country, and travel to various other's. So what are the thoughts on somekind of policy that insures a camera, doesn't cost too much, and will take care of everything no matter where the camera is stolen?

Thanks,
John

John, I can't guarantee you can find these people in Mexico but try :

AIG {American International Group] and/or C.V. Starr...They were/ are connected insurers of all kinds of unusual risks and may have offices in Mexico City... AIG is headquartered in New York City. C.V. Starr is headquartered, I believe, in China but is well known in the insurance industry...

I just found AIG's address in Mexico City:

AIG Mexico- Seguros Interamericana S.A. de C.V.
Member Company of AIG
Ave. Insurgentes Sur #1136
Mexico, D.F. 03219
Mexico
Tel: 52 5 488 4700

I have mine on my renter's insurance. As long as you are not a pro, it is fairly easy to do. The way mine is arranged, all the cameras are covered if they are in the home, and additionally I have 15000 dollars blanket camera coverage to cover cameras lost, stolen, broken etc outside the home. They are still covered no matter where I travel, outside the US as well. It is 278 dollars a year. I think the peace of mind is worth it, especially since I travel out of the US frequently with a lot of camera equipment.

I guess you could probably get it put on the homeowner's insurance of the people you live with...that might work.
