Kiu mentioned in the thread on Nikon LTM portrait lenses that it would be possible to put a 5cm f1.4 S lens head into a 5cm f2 LTM focus mount.
This sounds very handy. But is it really possible? Will you still retain proper focus calibration? I guess the focal length is the same so things should work.
Kiu - It sounds as if you have done this, so does it work well?
Thanks,
Simon.

That's an interesting idea. I don't have LTM versions, but the lens module on the Nikon-S version very easily unscrews. So it would make economic sense for Nippon Kogaku to have made one module and two mounts. You'd probably need to change the shim to account for minor variations in spacing.

In Kevin Li's site (commerical site), there are a lots of lens, listed under modified lense with a leica (assume) foucs mount

There are also foucsing mount avariable:

Many someone can work something out, and use such a mount for other applications/adaptions??? Astro-Berlin
If the Actual focal lenght is not the same, then there should be limitations.
Just think J-3 (act. F.L.of 52.3mm) on a Leica (Standard lense' act. F.L. = 51.6mm), wide open might be a hit or miss situation (use smaller apertures? or seek Brain's advices...)
Dan Stella's article on this topic:

The lenses on Kevin's site aren't Nikkors.
A good machinist can build any kind of mount. But not at a cost-effective price.
Does anybody know what happened to the Kiev factory in Ukraine? If any of the machinery is still around, it might provide grist for a cottage industry to make weird adapters and change lens mounts.

Did you say Nippon Kogaku
I know the mounts are the same between the 5cm f2 and 5cm f1.4 in Nikon mount. To be honest with you guys I don't do LTMs So I really don't know if thats the case. I think I can find out though.
