Joe, I hate to tell you this because I'm a Leica man but, after cleaning, my 50mm f/1.9 Serenar does quite well and I'm going to keep it. The pictures below tell the story. A couple have been posted elsewhere and you may have seen them but here they are... again. Some have not been posted before.

The nose art was taken at approx. f/2, handheld at 1/20th.

I'd like to add that for a shade I bought a Leitz polarizer filter that clamps over the lens and swings out to be adjusted. It has a built-in shade and the one I bought had bad glass which I removed. Makes a great shade and it was pretty reasonable because the filter itself was defective. Note: I see that ray_g just now sold one in nice condition for $75!
