interesting lens test site

Since I couldn't find the "note sur 6" explaining how he assigned the values he graphed (let alone what he means by "Zeiss magic") this is mainly an interesting abstract artifact to me. It's like reading the bridge column in the newspaper -- it seems very specific and detailed, but since I don't play bridge, I have no way of telling how good the info is.

Fascinating site, Frank. Thanks so much for providing the link. It will take a while to digest. I don't have any experience with FSU lenses, but it seems that the Zeiss designs fare well - especially those at f/1.5. Too bad they don't bring them back. His conclusion that use & preferred character of the lens should determine one's selection of a lens is good advice.

Interesting that Industar 61 lens has had such bad results. Most of the fed and zorkii users here have praised it, as far as I know.

The results are only valid for the particular sample of the lens tested. Not too valid to draw generalizations for all lenses of the type tested, especially FSU lenses where the quality control varies considerably.
