...Wedding photos with available light only. Lots of photos that really capture emotions or moments (at least to me) making me ashamed of displaying my own photos.

PS: Reading Peter's link, I was surprised to see that Jeff uses C-41 B&W film.

He is awesome!! Should command top dollar too!

(now lets all quietly delete the links to our galleries in our signatures...shhhh..quiet now)

Wow. He rightly should command top dollar for that kind of work. I especially like the way he works the entire wedding getting some unconventional pics, and even the standard shots have some extra little touch to them that really says something.

Looking at those makes me feel like I'm a kid running around with my Disc camera again... he's got some serious skills. I wish I could be a quarter that good.

Doug K.,
Remember, he's him and you are you (with your own unique style). While I do appreciate the talents of many other artists, I am happy to be shooting "my" way. If I see a technic that intrigues me, I may attempt to meld it into my work but I'd never want to do exactly what others do.

Wow!
I'm not worthy, I'm not worthy... ;)

When I saw first couple of shots in his gallery, I immediately thought "This guy must be using Leica glass..." - which was confirmed later, reading the Washington Post article.
I mean, the guy is fantastic, but his shots wouldn't be what they are without a Leica. Those shots have a "fingerprint" that can't be mistaken for anything else.
Of course, it's not like his shots are great *because* he uses a Leica, but because he has a great eye for composition, light - everything.... But he sure knows how to use what he has :)

Inspiring - just awesome!

Don't agree, Denis. Of course it depends on what you mean by "what they are". Maybe some of the shots wouldn't look quite so 3D, or the OOF areas wouldn't be as pleasing, but essentially the glass is immaterial to his vision. The guy simply has a seeing eye.

:bang:

Take away his Leica and give him a lowly class camera, and he will still be able to run rings anound any one of us with a Leica! Its the eye, and 20 years of experience working hard at it that makes those images awesome.

As I said, it's not *because* he uses Leica, but because he has a great eye. Leica glass just adds the stuff I happen to notice (OOF areas, "creamy" complexion, etc....).
And, as I said, he sure knows how to use what he has (both the eye and the camera glass).

And, finally, as I said: "I'm not worthy, I'm not worthy...." :)
You could give me any camera in the world, and all the equipment I could imagine, and my photos would not be even close :(

In short, I was talking about that particular "Leica fingerprint" I've learned to spot in a photograph.
I repeat, the guy is a genius, Leica or no Leica...

Denis sorry for the misunderstanding. Here's another photog I like, he uses a Leica too I think as well as a Nikon. Another very talented bloke...

Tony Dummett's gallery

No hard feelings, Peter... :)

I may be a Leicaphile (just got my first, an M2, a couple of months ago), but I'll be the first to admit that "a camera does not a photographer make" ;)

BTW, thanks for the link - some very nice photos there!

Denis, just want to make sure you didn't take my reply wrong. I can see how it could read either way, escepcially when it fell inbetween your response and peters.

The banging the head on the wall, and the not worthy icon, are because I feel I'll never get to that level. Pure frustration, and awe, all wrapped into one.

And Peter, thanks for that link!!! Now I have two reasons to continue :bang: and chanting;....

Stephen, no problem - I actually liked your little guys - they say it better than I do :) :)
