Interesting ....

This lens has been used for other mods over the last year or so..

I wonder how the aperture works.........

I've got a broken GSN I would like to modify this lens to work with 39mm LTM to use on my Bessa R. Problem is I wouldn't know how to start.

After checking to see if the register is OK (distance from the mount to film plane). You could start with a black body cap from Camera Quest. Then drill a hole in the cap and trial mount with tape and shims. I use a piece of frosted plastic on the BessaR film plane to adjust the shims. When you get it right; somehow solidify the lens to the body cap. It sounds hard but I've done it a bunch of times, I think I have six body caps conversions. The trick is to get the 10 foot mark on the lens to match the focus on the viewing plastic at 10 feet.

I didn't see any ltm body caps listed any longer at CC but I think I can come up with something. Perhaps Canon FD. I have plenty of Canon FD to work with.

charjohncarter has a great idea there. Works very nicely.

I too wonder how they approach the aperture control on it, but I sorta remember someone that does something similar with the Contax G lenses. Isn't cheap.

The registry will be wrong for a RF to SLR conversion.

I agree...

Minolta made a Leica to Minolta adapter during the SRT days but the Leica lens was only good for closeup or copying.

From A Guide to the Minolta SLR System page 54

"Leica mount lens can be used only for close-ups and copying, since their back focus is different from Minolta lens."

I once had this adapter and did a few close-ups with it but I sold it a few years back. Wish I still had it now..

Is this lens the same formula as the 50mm f/1.7 m42 lens? Because I've often considered picking up one of those for my Pentax SLR. Also the Mamiya-Sekor 55/1.4. If the m42 lens rendered similarly to the GSN, it would be a much simpler way of achieving that look...

There are three different versions of the Yashica Yashinon 50/1.7 lens. The DX and DS 50/1.7 lenses are single-coated, while the DS-M is a multicoated lens. My favorite of the three is the DX version, it is beautiful lens, and is incredibly sharp with nice, creamy bokeh. But there may be mirror clearance issues at infinity focus with it when used on Pentax bodies. No such issues with the DS and DS-M versions, however.

The "eyeball test" makes me think that the DS is probably closest to the RF lenses, it appears to have the updated coating similar to the RF lenses.

This flickr set :

has many examples shot using the DX and DS-M lenses, all of the black and white photos were taken using the DX lens.

I wouldn't think that it will affect the pricing much, as the same folks who run around slapping adapters on anything they can get their grubby paws on won't go to the trouble, or even have the know how, to dismantle a camera just to get the lens. Not to mention whatever modifications that would have to be made.

I've seen a Yashinon from a GSN adapted to an Argus C-3, but only one.

Kent, now I know what to do with the lens from my broken down GT when I part out the rest of the body. If I ever own an M4/3 camera that is.
