I am actively modee'fying a Contax III with help from those techs from the ex Arsenal factory in Ukraine .
I have an early Kiev ' KNeB ' II and KNeB III , but my Autism rejects Kiev 4 as not same body and confusing dual script ... so I dee'cided to fix it .
I am now awaiting a KNeB IIIa body with Kiev 4 meter and controls which will complete the ' set ' of profiles .
They have also revived a box of Contax II bits into a lovely ' new ' camera with a Kiev II heart , to cause purists apoplexy .
A Contax III , restored from two compromised cameras , is now a genuine original classic with accurate and linear meter ...
leaving a headless Contax III ...which has been mated to another early 1958 Kiev 4 without the strenghthening ridges on the meter cover / top plate , reminiscent of the post war Contax IIIa .
A Contax with a compact meter with available spares , easier controls reminiscent of a Contax IIIa is the perfect companion to the II and III .
I was concerned with messing with a '' Classic '' , but there are so many broken cameras being offered since digital exploded , that one missing should not upset the spares pool too much !
I just hope that Kiev admirers will not be too upset at a Kiev being compromised by a German invader ! LOL
The Contax / Kiev connection and plentiful compromised cameras was just irresistable to a dee'signer !
