I think you should bring the 1lite (under the foma brand) + 5 litre d-76 packs (Kodak brand) + 5 litre fixer packs as well. (all avail in freestyle photo.biz). All in powder form.

If buying this is a hassle, you can always stopover in singapore to pick up the chemicals at Ruby Photos at Peninsula Shopping Centre.

If nothing else, the experience should be a blast, developing film in 86f temperature. (I half the normal 68 Fahrenheit time as a starting point) for 30c processing.

I doubt if the chemicals will pose a problem at the customs, just make sure it isn't opened. (I once made a mistake of bringing in Porcine sweat meat into the country, and I managed to make it bring it in after some bargaining).

If you have the time, do visit the Toba Lake in North Sumatra. I'd spend weeks to study about the culture there, especially about the remains of an old kingdom in the small island in the center of the lake. I'd not trust Indonesian photo labs to develop my films, except the ones in bigger cities like Jakarta (you even have to go to a certain lab to get the best result). So just shoot away and keep your films until you get back home to develop 'em. Have fun!

I think I cannot go to the other parts of Sumatra. West Sumatra alone is big enough and I have not traveled around it really. I am most of the time at Padang City only.

I have found it hard to find anything other than Fuji color negative film in Indonesia. The only place where I've seen b/w film was in a mall in Jakarta, at a bookstore. (if that makes any sense) But this was ridiculously overpriced 'lomo' film.

Maybe you can try some local 'lomography' clubs for more info about film and chems? Toy camera's are a pretty big thing last time I was there.
