Internal Reflections

Spent some time at the Cannes Film Festival last month and loved using the Epson R-D1 in addition to my regular Nikon D2X cameras. I was pleased to see several other press photographers also sporting R-D1s.

I shot quite a few general night shots with the camera. Sometimes in the images I had internal reflections of bright lights but this picture really surprised me. Under the illuminated sign on the top of the Majestic hotel, you can clearly see an upside down reversed reflection of the sign. This can only be from internal reflections within the camera! I was using a Nokton 40mm F1.4 lens (with a uv filter).

Anybody else experienced this?

Cheers,

Paul

I've never seen one like this, but here's a couple of thoughts, FWIW.
The reflection is same size, and in focus, suggesting it's off a plane surface. It's rotated by 180 degrees, so has been through an optical system after reflection, ruling out the internal IR filter. I'd suspect a plane UV filter maybe? Just a thought, probably wrong.
