ADMIN EDIT: For those who are unaware, Internet Explorer is generally regarded as the worst browser there is due to a unending series of security problems. This is generally considered the result of 1) hackers hating Microsoft so much they make Microsoft products their #1 HACK TARGET and 2) Microsoft doing an extraordinarily poor job of coding IE, year after year, version after version! Both Firefox and Chrome will work much better with RFF, although Chrome has the disadvantage of sharing your browsing habits with Google. For mobile platforms including phones and tablets, Atomic Web works well.

All that said, IF YOU STILL HAVE TO USE IE - see directions below ...

I just joined the forum and I could not post at first, filled out a fairly long message but it kept telling me my message was too short, could not change font or any of the other settings etc, I use internet Explorer.
The problem was in the User Control Panel settings, goto Edit Options, then scroll down to Message Editor Interface and change the default setting of 'Enhanced Interface - Full WYSIWIG Editing' to 'Standard Editor - Extra Formatting Controls', and see if that fixes the problem, it did for me, the default setting must be a problem for Internet Explorer.

Thanks! I've read this forum for a over a year and never have been able to post. Exact same issues you had. I wrote the forum owner but didn't get any help except to switch computer programs. Not being much of a computer person I can't do much.

FWIW, Internet Explorer has never worked well with RFF, even recent versions. The browser that works most smoothly here is FireFox, with Chrome and Safari also doing fine.

The symptom mentioned by siman is typical for IE... good to know a possible workaround. :)

Apparently Windows 10 is going to have a completely new browser from Microsoft ... similar to Chrome I've heard.

I gave up on IE years ago ... it has never got on well with RFF.

boys, IE is meant to download any real browser for the first time. Launch IE, download FF and you are set.
MS should put this in EULA to be clear.

I had the same problem when I joined. I contacted an admin or moderator who told me of the issue with IE. I changed browsers to FireFox and now everything works fine.

Any browser other than IE would be preferable. Rich interfaces require javascript, and IE's sole reason for existence is to infect the world with its b4stard implementation of same.
