Hello, you lot!

New to the forum, so thought I'd throw in a quick note to introduce myself. I'm down in Australia shooting with a Bessa R and 35/2.5 at the moment. I've been down the dslr track and found it like this :bang:

So I got myself the Voigtlander to replace my trusty old Ricoh 500 GX which is a bit old and needed some rest. And some glue. And new light seals. Etc.

Despite being *really* broke, I am getting a Bessa L, Zorki 1 and Industar 22 soon. And maybe a Jupiter 3.

Incidentally... does anyone use a 50mm on a Bessa L here? Most people suggest I'm crazy for wanting to use a 50mm with no rangefinder... but isn't that how this whole thing started? (with the Leica A)

I think I will fit in here... I've got to the stage where I'm selling off cameras I don't use so I can buy more that I will! (or so I keep promising myself).

I'm even selling my car and buying a more comfortable touring bike so I can use petrol money for film instead 😀

Bikes aren't supposed to be comfortable, just FAST! ~ ;;- )
I use motorcycles as sport cars, top down like scrapeing the pegs.
The Bessa R fits great in the pocket of a leather jacket :angel:

Keep us informed on the bicycle selection. Some of ride those things. I have a question on how do most carry cameras on bicycles. No pockets in my pants or shirts and it bounces too much around my neck. BTW, the 50mm will work on the L, but do you plan to use a finder to frame it? Use the hypefocusing method and that'll take care of the focus issue, but you will need an accessory viewfinder to frame, I think. Welcome again, mate!

I have a question on how do most carry cameras on bicycles?

I use panniers and a reasonably sized, lightly padded, Crumpler satchel. The satchel keeps everything together as a kit and allows you to throw it over your shoulder should you need room in the panniers. You ride with satchel resting on your butt.

I use a Mountainsmith waist pack. It carries anything from a 35 mm rfdr. to my 120 folders, and does so very securely, with no bouncing. Years ago, I went touring with my then-new Vivitar tripod strapped to the back of my Pletcher "rat-trap" bicycle rack. As I rode, I gradually shook loose all the parts on the tripod, including the tripod busking screw! 😱
