I used my iPad as a light table last night - awesome way to view negatives or slides.

It would be - great idea! The screen is so bright. There's an app called flashlight which makes the whole screen bright white - could use that to enhance it

Doesn't the matrix of the screen get magnified too much?

Amazing idea, most expensive simple light table ever! Actually I've used my MacBook Pro:s 13" screen that way plenty of times on travels, even if it doesn't lye flat.

Ha! I'd been thinking about getting one of those miniature flat light table things...glad I didn't!

I've done this before, but I use a 37" TV as my computer monitor and it's not perfect (as even thought it's a 1920x1080 panel the pixels are quite large)

I've been doing that for a while now- it works great!
I also have an empty text document, maximized to fill my screen, that I use to review negatives in archival pages against my iMac. Yay!
