Hi,
this may have been dealt with in previous postings - but couldn't find anything... the lens has a 40.5 mm filter diameter - is there an adapter available to fit an E39 IR?
or some other solution?

If you step down you risk vignetting. You could get a 40.5-43mm step-up and find IR filters from Hoya, Heliopan and B+W to name a few.

I'm sure B+W used to list a 486 UV/IR filter in 40.5mm not oo long ago but I haven't seen them in that size recently.

I'm using a 40.5 to 46 step up ring and then using my 46 mm UV/IR filter and an off brand 46 mm lens hood. Works well with no corner cut off on the M8.
