This is a filter adapter from DAGcamera.com.
Then you can use normal 39mm filters.
Or you can screw on a normal E39 filter on your Summicron 40. It only goes about a single turn or so, but that's tight enough to hold the filter in place.

Too bad - I checked immediately, that trick of "one turn at most" does not work on my M-Rokkor 40 mm with 40.5 mm thread.

I found the B+W filter screws in much more tightly than the leica variety. It stays quite well on my 40 cron.

The question was about the 40mm summicron C, wihich has a Series 5.5 39mm filter thread. This thread has a different pitch than the "normal" E39 filter thread.
Your M Rokkor uses normal 40,5 mm Filters (B+W, Heliophan, schneider Kreuznach are suppliers of this filters).

Just use a 39mm filter. That's what I do, and it's worked fine.
