If you're not familiar with Ira Glass or his radio show, "This American Life" you should certainly go check it out! (www.thislife.org)
Here's a clip with him talking about your ambition catching up to your abilities. It's about storytelling specifically, but I think it's very appropriate for photography as well. If nothing else, it gives some reassurance that one day I might just be happy with a photo or two that I take!

I watched it. Was favorably impressed. Then I watched a few other Ira Glass videos. They were just as enlightening.
BTW, he also has a great $5- comic book about how to do your own audio presentation. Very helpful for those of us beginning to do narrated slide shows. Get it from the "This American Life" web site.

Thanks for posting this link. I listen to the show, but never went to look for related vids on the YT.

Well-known
Thanks for posting that! I've listened to "This American Life" for years but had never actually seen Ira - it's amazing how much he looks like I thought he would.
Great advice from him - those few little video clips are worth at least three credits at a college in a writing program if you ask me!

I have to say, that show is likely the single best thing on NPR. There is few things I like to listen to more. Thanks for the link.

picnic like it's 1999
I don't know; where I live, we have a lot of great public radio. I mean, I really enjoy 'This American Life", and "Tiny Ira"- but I especially love it coming from a station that also plays "Radio Nowhere" (when did Bruce get so cool?- I know, I know...)I have to say, that show is likely the single best thing on NPR. There is few things I like to listen to more. Thanks for the link.
Anyway, thanks for the link.

Great link, it's just what I needed at this point. Lately, I've been feeling somewhat discouraged with my pictures, but this piece was just what I needed. Thank you for posting it! Time to slog onward!

Since there seems to be a few fans here, do you guys know about the live show they're broadcasting to movie theaters? I'm so pumped! It's on May 1st and they're filming a live show in New York and sending it over the airwaves to movie theaters across the country. There's info on thislife.org about it, but just thought I'd throw in a plug for it.
