New vocabulary (for me at least) arising from social media coverage of the Japan disaster. It seems that we can all be iReporters, and that we're not terrorists after all.

All the stuff coming out of Japan is awful. The local news outlets have just started hitting the ground. Until now it's all been aerial coverage. I'm still waiting for the pros to hit the ground to see what things are really like. Like Haiti it's going to take 3-4 days for the big media outlets to get people in and provide real coverage.
Also for the first few hours there was nothing coming out. Just internet rambling about how there has been a quake. No images, just, "I just felt a quake." And "I hope everyone is alright." and the occasional youtube video. Those are the reactions of the people. And they are all fine and normal for the average person. Not the coverage expected of an actual journalist. Having a camera and a blog does not a reporter make. It takes a different way of looking at things entirely instead of just hashing your first hand account and that being the end of the story.
