If a friend sends you eBay auctions, for items you have well known weaknesses for, minutes before they close -- is he really a friend? Is it a "friends don't let friends drive drunk" sort of thing?

Contax Brother Akalai: thank you for the lead on the post-war 38/2.8 Biogon. Now I really am all through with eBay...done...finished...no more...never going back... :D :D :D

My sincere thanks, especially since I really have not been spending time on eBay lately and I would have surely missed the opportunity.

I dunno. IMO, a TRUE friend would have bought it and then sent it to you! ;)

A real Zeiss Biotar 35/2.8 should be quite a lens. Let us know how it does when you have a chance to use it.

Buying it for me would have been the proper thing to do :)

A lot had to fall into place for this to happen, it was very fortuitous. Akalai or I could have been elsewhere, I could have checked e-mail late. It required more than a little luck, but nothing would have happened without Akalai

Thank you, my friend.

Hey D2!

Haha, glad I could "HELP" ....would it surprise you if I said I was listening to "Pusherman" on the original vinyl soundtrack to "Super Fly". ;)

Anyway you'll have to let me know how it works out, now if ANYONE happens to see a 21mm Biogon for $200 or less send me an email!!! ;)

Cheers AKALAI

Ha ha, are you sure you weren't listening to Hendrix "Have you ever been experienced?"
LOL>

akalai you have the superfly soundtrack on vinyl? I would probably buy that over another camera if I had to choose.

There's a 25th anniv. edition BTW, which has a truckload of extra stuff on it, demos etc.. very worthwile for the fonky brother

Hey Felipe, its a sweet sweet soundtrack! But then my music tastes are a little everywhere.....been listening to a bit of Grace Jones today....you can't beat her version of "Nightclubbing"!

I was trying to "help" ;) akalai with a CV 35mm/f2.5 P1 a while back but I have since lost the trail scent.

Still looking akalai? :)

Hey Peter! I am still focusing on my 21mm Biogon...I know its out there in a Salvation Army store just waiting for me or one of my fellow RF friends to find it! ;) I have decided for the moment to concetrate on this one lens....simply because I know that if I did fork out the cash for a nice Voigt Pancake Mk.I that no doubt an equally nice 21mm Biogon will turn up for a low price and of course I will be strapped for cash.... agggggh that would hurt.

Having said that if you do stumble across a nice Voigt Pancake let me know just the same, hahaha.

Cheers Pete!

OH and D2, you have to post a "Camera and Coffee" shot of the 35mm Biogon when it arrives....when you have a spare moment. Perhaps a line up of the various 35mm angle Contax lenses would be cool, handy for someone like me to see and compare the physical differences just incase I stumble across another similar one.

AKALAI

Any excuse for a C/C is fine with me! We'll show the difference between the pre and post-war versions (pre-war will not mount on the IIa and IIIa, it will damage the shutter). We'll also compare it with the Biometar and the Orthometar -- do not have a Planar (yet?:D)

Sounds like you need to add a SC Skopar 35/2.5 to that mix. Just for that "modern" look, of course... :)

Felipe,

just to brag a bit - I've also got the 'Superfly' soundtrack on vinyl, original edition, the cover with that neat folding flap... Cover is a bit worn around the edges, but hey, I only paid 10 dollars for it about ten years ago in some record store in LA...

Hey, Akalai, I was just poking through http://www.kevincameras.com/ and see that they must have half a dozen or more 21mm f/4.5 Biogons in their Contax section. You could go there and drool a little, but the least expensive one I recall seeing was $775. Ah, well...

I may have a 21mm f/2.8 Biogon G + finder heading my way, yummmm
