Refuses to suffer fools
When I bought my NEX-7 a year ago it was with the intent of using it mostly with legacy MF glass - normally my OM 24/2.8 and 50/1.8. However, I did pick up a Sigma 30/2.8 to have a decent AF prime. (I'm not a fan of the 18-55 nor most other zooms on these cameras.)
To my surprise I found that I really, really liked the 30! I picked up the companion 19/2.8 when the blowout prices started and am enjoying that one, too.
I've decided that I want one of the new Sigma 60/2.8s when they are released - I'm not going to bother waiting for reviews based on the good experience I've had with their NEX mount lenses. This will give me a very usable 28/45/90 equivalent kit that is inexpensive enough that I won't worry about taking them out in the elements. I was happy enough with my Elmar-C 90 that I used for years, the f/2.8 aperture doesn't bother me at all.
Is anyone else waiting for this lens to be released?

I forgot I posted this last year - am I omnipotent or what?

(I highly doubt that my little email campaign to Sigma JP and Sigma USA caused them to do the 60/2.8.)

Looking forward to it, hopefully at a decent price. If the 19mm and 30mm lenses are anything to go by, this shold be good. 60/2 macro would be even better

Last week Paul at Sigma USA said that the price hadn't been set yet, but it was expected to be about the same as the 30 and 19 or slightly higher. I read that as less than $300 street price in the US - I hope I'm right!

Yes, I'm waiting for it aswell.
I have emailed Sigma several times about it, but no news of a release date or price. I was really happy with the 19 and 30.
That said, having recently bought the CZ 24, and having seen the results from that I am thinking I will hang on and see what the CZ 50 is like before committing to the Sigma, although, the 60 length is a little more appealing I have to say.

I think we can assume the 60 will be pretty good, judging from the 30 and 19. But I'm more keen to see how the Sony 20 is reviewed. A 30 FOV pancake with OSS sounds great. But you're right, 19/30/60 is an ideal kit.

Depends, depends..
The Sigma 30/2.8 makes a lot of sense if you're not interested in macro; Sony's own 35/1.8 is awfully expensive. But for the 60, one wonders.. isn't 60mm awfully close to 50mm? The NEX 50mm isn't dirt cheap, but definately more reasonably priced than the 35. Added bonus: f1.8 and OSS. It's interesting to see what the value proposition of Sigma's 60 will be.

B-i-g difference between a 75-e and a 90-e to my thinking, though... plus, I'm not thrilled with some of what I've seen out of the Sony 50 on the web.

I'm with you on that.
The lenses on the Sigma DPM series have really convinced me how great Sigma optics can be. The new 50/2.8 (75efov) is fantastic. I know the formulas for the 19/2.8 and the 30/2.8 aren't quite the same between the two systems, but I'm really impressed.
The prices on the Sony Nex mount Sigma glass are about the only reasonable thing I've seen in the world of camera gear recently.

I'm really hoping the 60 draws like their 30 does!

I hope so too. Some people complain the Sigma lenses lack character, but they are actually just very good lenses.

I guess it's hard for some people to accept. Perceptions and images take a long time to change.

Just picked mine up today for a great price (in the UK). Test driving for the weekend on an NEX7.

Nope, that smooth lens barrel doesn't work for me. What were they thinking?

How is the lens optically?

It's OK, perfectly acceptable - but for me the handling is atrocious.

Probably figuring it's going to be used in AF only. Question is how valid this assumption is; no matter how great the AF of the NEX-6 is compared to the original NEX-3, there are still times when I have to touch up AF or go fully manual.Nope, that smooth lens barrel doesn't work for me. What were they thinking?
