Is Anyone Here Attending the Mermaid Parade This Sat. in NYC?

Noon? I'd get there way earlier this time around: besides the hype/curiosity surrounding the "new" Luna Park, this year's official King & Queen of the Parade are none other than Lou Reed and Laurie Anderson.

Didn't make last year's, but went the year before, and it was positively packed. Still making my mind up about this year...

Look for a tall skinny Asian with an arrogant chin beard. That's me (not part of the parade BTW).

I'll likely be carrying a Leica IIIG with a 28/3.5 Seranar and a M6 with a 75 Lux, unless I go MF (Rolleiflex 3.5F and Tele Rolleiflex).

Perhaps this will be one of those rare times I will shoot color.

I'm going to try to go, I have been in NYC for nearly two weeks now working on my Kodachrome book chapter on Times Square and would love to get this. Only problem is my flight leaves at 7:30 later that evening and I am doing breakfast w/ Jeff Jacobson in Manhattan, so I might just do the staging area and split before the subways fill back up.

I won't be able to make it this year, but in years past have usually tried to show up around 11am & paid the nominal camera fee to shoot in the set-up area. For camera nerds, there's another attraction: the Mermaid Parade has featured the largest concentration of film shooters, including RF (mostly Leica) & various medium format gear, that I've seen in any one place (though I'm sure on a daily basis, Tokyo would win the prize).

Here, in the middle of the Arizona desert, my house is on Neptune Avenue. Go figure.

My dilema is go two Leicas long/short, or Rolleflex 3.5F and TeleRollieflex.

Perhaps if I want to shoot a lot of film Leica, but maybe I want the big square negative.

Doing B&W BTW. If I do MF I'll break out some of that TXP 320 in 220 I have stock piled.

I'm already anxious.
