Hi all
I see via the search function that Ed at Euro Photographic Services in the UK was being discussed on here in 2022.

Does anyone know if he still open for business?

I emailed at the beginning of the week but havent had a response. He may of course be in holiday or not well and I do understand that some people take a while to respond to emails!

Thanks!
Ian

Thanks!

Yes thats Ed. I guess that he only looks at his emails periodically perhaps.

I am wondering where is to try re vintage Voigtlander servicing. I used Newton Ellis a number of years ago for a Leica II and I guess they could handle this kind of work however I think that they are closed for repairs now.

Have you tried Pierro at PPP ?

Is that Ed Trzoska? If so he is now semi-retired and taking his time over things - my Contax III took 15 months.
@Coldkennels - TBH I was OK with that, he told me when I enquired first that he was semi-retired and it would be some time, and it was broken (chance find in a junk shop), so it's not as if I could have used it in the meantime.

However, not what you want if you want it fixed in a hurry!

I was recently talking to "my guy" for Leica repairs, Miles Whitehead, who's in a similar position - winding down, working fewer hours, and apparently no longer taking on new clients. I actually have a similar "junk shop find" of a Contaflex Prima I picked up in Romania last summer which needs a service, and Miles directed me to Ed. I guess I could be without that for 15 months, but still...

We're going to be absolutely buggered in the UK for camera repair soon. We can't (reasonably) send stuff out to guys in the EU post-Brexit, and most of the camera techs in England are retiring, won't touch a lot of cameras, or are just outright incompetent (I won't say who I'm putting in the last category). There's only so much you can reasonably DIY, too!

Mikes was my go-to person between 2010 and just before the pandemic. He serviced an om1 with sticky slow speeds, a YashicaMat which wouldn't advance the film and serviced my Nikon F4.
Miles has replaced the shutter curtain in my IIIf and IIIg, and he's going to do the same to my Leica Ic next month and do a basic service to my III. Figured I should bite the bullet and send them over to him while he's still working!
