Hello,
A friend of mine showed me his father's Leica gear, an M3 and a few lenses. The less messed up lens is this Elmarit which I intend to use with my R-D1 but has as you can see some external corrosion in the body and even though I left it like a month breathing fresh air still smells strongly to humidity. (The inside of the lens is full of the classic dust)
My question is considering the electronics of the R-D1 if it is worthy to use it or can be dangerous for it. Thanks for any advice!

Since the only connections between lens and an RD-1(s) are mechanical, you should find no negative consequences from mounting it.
If you want to give clean up the optics/body, I'd suggest talking to Sherry Krauter at Golden Touch.

Thank you Erik, since the owner of the lens is my friend and he only wants to keep that gear as a remember from his father I think he will pass on the service, but I will take note of that for future needs... Cheers!

My M5s need red dots!
Ricardo, if the lens reeks of humidity... I'd stay away from it. From the little I know about lens fungus, this lens may have something or else it wouldn't smell.
Have you tried to leave it anywhere getting direct sunlight?

Well the fungus wont creep into the R-D1 though would it? Never heard of a fungus infected camera before. Just keep it away from other lens

It may be contagious with anything that it shares a bag with. You are who you bag with.
