Hi all,
I will buy in few days a used Bessa R and I have some russian lenses. I know that is impossible to use the 35mm f2.8 🙁 , but what about the I 22? ( 50 mm f 3.5)

I know that is impossible to collapse it into the camera and this is not a problem.
The problem is: For changing the focus is necessary to put dpwn a little "button" to unlock the lens. This "button" hurts on the body of my fed 2, so I can't use the I 22 on it: is there the same problem on Bessa R?

What can I do to use the I 22 on it?

Thank you all

Potomo

You can use it Potomo, no hurting as you describe.

And as you say, no collapsing all the way - a couple of washers (total 1/2") will sort this.

Well, at least on my Bessa it is the same problem.

Unlock the lens before tightening the lens.

Best regards,
Uwe

You can use the J-12 on the R, it just can't focus to infinity, but DOF covers this problem, but remember not to trust the camera's light-meter.

At first: thank you all for the speed in answer me!!

Dingo, what's the problem with TTL light-meter?

The light-censor would be blocked by the rear element of the lens, it wouldn't get the right readings.

It seems I have a Bessa-R modified I-22 🙂 I'd noticed that there was some work/damage on the lock mechanism (it is not the same type as the I-50s) but I had attributed it to a bodged repair job. It locked/unlocked fine on a R I used to have.

Metering wise, it seemed fine on the R and on the R2a and R2m (extended and locked).

Ok, so no problem with the metering.I think I will buy on other copy of I 22 ( it costs as much as a beer in a pub!!) and I will try to modify it.
What do you think about the lens quality?

The lens quality is pretty good. Slightly soft focus but nice. On mine I'm about to make a slip on spacer to stop it from collapsing fully, like a little trouser clip for when you are cycling.
3mm (on mine) is all that is required.

Though the I22 is a nice lens I've never bothered with using it on my Bessas, simply because of the collpasing issues. I used sometimes on my Leica M2 and FED-2, though; especially the FED-2. Mine doesn't have any problem on the FED-2.
