I understand your descision not to develop your own film. There's nothing wrong with C-41 B&W. It has a slightly different look than traditional B&W, but traditional B&W has so many variations and flavors that I think it fits in just fine. Or follow MelanieC's suggestion, use color film, and convert to B&W in Photoshop.

Either way, have it processed develop only at Target or Walmart and you'll only pay about $1 a roll. They can scan it for a bit more and they do a pretty decent job. Long term you're better off buying a decent flatbed scanner or a slightly more expensive negative scanner.
