Who has a closer philosophy to Leica's M cameras than Lomography?
No AF, very traditional and few controls. All about the resultant image with as few distractions as possible getting in the way.
They even just made a Leica M mount lens! The 32mm pancake (which I have on order).
Think how off the wall a Leica/Lomo store would be! Toy cameras on one side, rich man's toy cameras on the other..
I smell a Kickstarter opportunity!
C'mon Lomography, buy Leica!!!
(At least the film side, who else out there is supporting film photography more than them?)

That would be brand suicide for Leica.

The best camera is one that still works!
That would be brand suicide for Leica.
Or Lomography possibly!

I think they are polar opposites:
- Lomography is "cheap & dirty" fun photography (cheap cameras, film with deliberate flaws).
- Leica is predominately used by eclectic photographers who appreciate craftsmanship and highest quality gear.

I find they are a perfect yin and yang match.
Both make elemental cameras.
Both have classic forms.
Both appeal to those who just care about the output.
One will be an aspiration brand for the other. You decide whom...
Plus it will bring new customers into the showroom for both brands.

Yes, like BMW selling MINIs.
Oh wait, that worked out great!

Yes, they both make elemental cameras. But while Lomo make elemental cameras to sell them rather cheap, Leica make us believe that the less features they put in their cameras the higher the price it's worth to pay for them.

Well, in all fairness they have a legacy to uphold.

I think because of the "cheap" , "fun" factor of A plastic camera, you see a lot of images that are more freestyle. Sometimes when you don't take things too seriously you get amazing results. I personally prefer a Leica, but I'm willing to try a toy camera and compare the results I get.

when i look at the photos that "lomographers" take, the characteristic that they typically reflect is narcissism, which is very different from the humanist photography that people generally associate with leicas.
note, this is part of what offends old school leica users about the path that leica has been taking lately.
