I wanted to know what year my 3c was made.I looked at every Leica number and can find mine anywhere😡🙄

450 000 to 450 000 is a 1949 3c

450 001 to 451 000 is a 1951 2c

451 001 ti 455 000 is a 1951 2f ??????

But mines definitively a 3C with the slow speed dial on the front and number 450200

Why cant i find this number listed anywhere??

No doubt i just cant see it😕 what year is my Body???

450210 right? Seems pretty straightforward -- originally a IIc (1951), and likely converted to a IIIc sometime later.

I don't see how you're coming up with it being a IIf.

OK when i just looked again at the leica numbers lists they all show this number in the 2f range???

The 2C range stops at 450 100

Gianni Rogliatti, "Leica: The First 60 Years", page 208....

450001-451000 IIc 1951
451001-455000 IIf 1951

If your serial number is 450210, then it's a IIc.

Should I take a photo of the page for you?

OK I bought this 11c which is a German copy of my 111c made in Moscow, as it has a working shutter at slower speeds

My Russian 111c shutter sticks a bit under 100th/sec

Anyway quite happy with a German copy as its in good condition chrome 100% inc release button, clear finder which dosnt stick and working shutter

You are so confusing me.

There are no German copies of Russian cameras. But if you mean that you have a Zorki or Fed that LOOKS like a Leica IIIc, then it won't have the slow speed dial. FED 2 or Zorki 2 are quite different beasts to a Leica IIc or IIIc.

For starters, the number (in Roman numerals) from I to III indicates features. So a I is basic without viewfinder or rangefinder, a II adds the rangefinder and viewfinder and a III adds the slow speed mechanism. I or II series cameras were upgraded by the factory to III status for a fee - this was obviously done with yours. Otherwise the I, II and III cameras for a given year are the same mechanically.

The letters indicate model series: no letter, then a, b and so on up to g. Additional features were added with each letter, but these then appplied to all cameras of that era. So the "c" cameras all had a cast chassis (as did all those that came after) while the "f" cameras all had flash synchronisation.

Your camera left the factory without slow speeds but they have been added later. It is NOW a IIIc but started life as a IIc. It is neither better nor worse than any other IIIc.

Enjoy!

Thanks that great info.
