Yup, I voted.
In general, contests etc. have difficulty getting carried through here.
Gotta admit, I started a nice project myself some time ago but did not supervise thoroughly enough and it sorta crumbled...
You live and learn I guess, I got more nice ideas but will only launch one when I'm ready and sure I can follow through.

I voted. We have only 25 participants in the gallery, give or take, so that's 25 votes max. if we keep the voting limited to ourselves. Makes a tie very likely. Any ideas for tie-breakers?
I say definitely everybody on RFF should be allowed to vote. Let's do some advertising.
I wish we could get rid of all the pictures that ended up in the gallery by mistake, like that shot from December of 2009...

Photographer?
Voted. Not sure how much it'll help, though.

The best camera is one that still works!
I've run a couple of these types of things and you have to stay focused (pun) and work to a fairly commited regime.
I've done two 'fourteen day one camera one lens comps' and the first was great but the second went a little flat for some reason ... people show a lot of enthusiasm initially but we all have busy lives and sometimes interest drifts a little and the project suffers.
I also think that an FSU comp is a little limiting ... the forum had a lot more activity with these cameras a couple of years ago but not so much now and I think that has been part of the problem with the small numbers.
Personally I'd like to see a competition based around the late Al Kaplan's memory ... open to all but maybe having to work within a 15mm to 35mm focal length incorporating a section for hand held self portraits ... and possibly stuffed animals!

I think that's the main problem but it's worth a try, seems we are as reliable as our cameras

I didn't vote because I was waiting for the 2 week peroid to get over with to give everyone an opportunity to upload their images. I just went & voted. Maybe others will follow. BTW I like Keith's idea!

Died not too long ago aged sixty seven after a heart attack sadly!
A very fascinating and opinionated man with a rich background in a lot of types of photography and we were very lucky to have Al as a member here up until his death.
This link to his blog 'The Price Of Silver' should give you some insight into an amazing guy ... sadly missed by me and a lot of others here!

I've always wanted to organise a photo competetion here dedicated to his memory and his unique style of photography, the last few years of which were heavily dedicated to the 15mm focal length via a Heliar f4.5 ... lots of interesting hand held self portraits.

Thanks for the link Keith!
Since we are talking wide angle hand held then why not a dedication to Tom Abrahamsson, heck he is on a roll with Mr. Kobayashi and the Voigtlander R4M and R4A. They're both keeping this passion of ours alive and would'nt be a bad idea for a contest either...
Tom rocks with that freezer full of Double-X and Tri-X, heck we could do a contest on those films alone!

...and the winner is
...and the winner is
Joao is the winner!
See that wasn't so hard was it
I guess someone should e-mail the head bartender and get the gallery closed and the winner announced for now and forever... then it's part time at Joao's place
