Is the D800E released yet?

Googling Nikon 800E release date, all I've read was March some time. Well March has come and gone and B&H still lists it as a pre-order.

I'm thinking I would still shoot film in MF but would like to change my 35mm over to digital. I might be selling my F6 with battery grip.

Does anyone have a D800E in their possession already?

Coming from film, I have a few questions regarding a camera like the D800E that can acquire in both FX and DX formats. It shoots up to 4 FPS in FX and up to 6 FPS in DX using the optional battery grip. Is the DX captured at a higher magnification or does the area captured just a smaller center part of the finder?

The D800E was announced to be released in mid-April. It is my understanding that the DX format is primarily for use with Nikon DX lenses, so you'd only be capturing a cropped portion of the sensor.
