Is the Yasuhara T981 still enjoyable to use despite its flaws?

Hi all,

Lately I've been contemplating buying a Yasuhara T981. I know of the problem with light leaks due to the shutter, but I still like the camera. I'm drawn to it because it's got a great story and history behind it (I also think it looks neat). So, my question to those of you who have used one; is it worth putting up with the shortcomings? Is it still enjoyable to use?

depends upon you
but I find it an unusual, entertaining and quirky camera.

Having never heard of Yasuhara I was quickly off to google!!!!
I really like the T012 😀 and would love to get my hands on one, but i think they are all gone by now 🙁

Keep us updated if you find a T981, they are beautiful!!!!
Good luck!

It's an intriguing camera, for sure. Just a few days ago, a MUGer (Yahoo Groups) wanted to know where to advertise his for sale (not on EPrey), and I recommended that he try posting it in RFF classifieds. I don't know if he's planning to do that though.

These come up for sale here in Japan quite often. The price ranges from $150 to $300. They seem more popular with collectors than shooters, the camera feels a bit like a Bessa R, though the construction seems to be all metal.
