Is There A Film That (please, please) Emulates Agfa Ultra Color Film?

I shoot B&W. I essentially shoot Tri-X exclusively, although I am playing w/ some Neopan 400 now. But the other day I went through some old shots I had taken w/ Agfa Ultra film (50 or 100, I'm not sure) in 35mm format, and wow! I want more of that......of course I am years and years too late. But is there anything on earth that might emulate that film? Velvia comes to mind, but while the colors are saturated they are not close enough. Maybe cross process something? I saw some sort of film at Freestyle a while back that gave exaggerated reds if you shot it at the right speed, but I'd like to get those wacky Agfa greens too.

Boy, I wish. I have a few rolls of Ultra 50 still in deep freeze, and I keep thinking about what to shoot with it. I will be watching this thread to see what the wiser heads of RFF suggest.

Meanwhile, in B&W, I too have been a largely Tri-X devotee (for approaching 30 years now...) and I too have really liked Neopan 400. The way I work (shooting at 250 or so and processing mostly in Rodinal 1:50) the negatives look very different, but the prints look remarkably similar- but the Neopan's thinner negatives scan better. Anyway; if you like it stock up- since it, too, now seems to have been discontinued. Sigh. I will be watching this space for color film suggestions.

I have a bunch of the Ultra 100 but never had a chance to shoot the 50.
I've waiting for a good opportunity to shoot some of it.

Drat. I discovered Ultra just about the time they stopped making it. If I were you guys I wouldn't worry about what to shoot w/ it. Pretty much anything looks great w/ that film. Portraits excepted :] I have a shot of my wife in a red sweater lying on a green couch....the shot just vibrates w/ color.

Thanks for the info on the Neopan drew. I'm going to try D76 first, altough I do have some Rodinal and Acufine. So if my negs look real different I won't worry, just print it and see what happens. I'm shooting it at 250 myself, same as the Tri-X.

Like Steve I discovered it at the moment they stopped making it. It is the only film I really, really want. It was great. Too bad nobody knows something similar.....

Man, I just discovered this film recently after buying two rolls on a whim (exp. 2008) from Hong Kong. Super sad. If they revive an emulsion they should revive this one for sure.

I have a few rolls of Ultra 50 in the freezer, expired in 1994 (but apparently cold stored). Only shot one roll so far, to find out a good EI for it, but it is definitely a film to my liking. Punchy!

You might want to try Ektar 100. Not the same I know but very interesting nevertheless.

I find Ektar the closest modern equivalent yeah, but Agfa holds details / colors better when overexposed where Ektar tends to shift a bit. Anyone know if Lomo Color Negative 100 is punchy enough to be comparable? Adox Color Implosion was a bit too unpredictable and now that's gone too.
