Curious -- is there a halfcase that will fit the Canon 7, even if it's not advertised as such? I'm currently using the standard black halfcase that came with it, and it works fine (never have that issue people complain about when the camera flips horizontal). But was curious about getting a brand new one.

Luigi's stuff is great, I was just wondering if by chance a common camera case brand happened to fit the Canon 7 by chance. Say a Fuji XPro or XT100, or Sony A7.

I think Mr Zhou has one.
When I had M8’s I liked his cases a lot.

I use Zhou cases for pretty much all my cameras (Leicas, Minoltas, Nikons, Xpans etc) and cannot recommend them enough. I love the grip he builds into them and the price is right. I also have Artisan and Artist and a Luigi one, and prefer the Zhou.
The one for the Canon P should fit the 7 as they are about the same size and shape.

I concur on Mr.Zhou cases - I have one for my Canon P - Strongest recommendation. Clean and tight, solid leather, perfect [contrast] stitching, finger and thumb bumps are perfectly placed. I'd sum up by saying "perfect" if I hadn't said so twice already. Incomparable.
I'd just ask Zhou if the 7 fits in the P case. He would know for certain.

I believe that it fits but the photocell for the meter on the 7 is partially blocked.

Hello, I make half cases occasionally for the Canon P and some other makes. I initially made them for my own cameras (I'm a music photographer so they take a bit of a bashing in the pit from time to time and wanted to protect them) and after receiving some compliments I started making them for other photographers too. I don't sell many as they really are something I do in my spare time but when one sells, I eventually get round to making another to replace it.
If you're interested I put them on eBay under the label 'Mr Brizzles' (to keep some separation from my professional life).
The Canon P version should also fit the Canon 7. You'll notice the self timer is covered - just my personal preference - so if you use the timer a lot this case obviously won't be for you.

canon camera museum is inconsistent with dimensions, sometimes they include protruding parts, sometimes not, hence the small difference.

Thanks for the links. That's a useful looking resource. I'm pretty sure the dimensions given include the PC sync and door lock, in the case of the Canon P, and not with the Canon 7. The Canon P baseplate measures 140mm exactly. I believe both cameras share exactly the same 'chassis'. The difference is in the top plate above the strap lugs. I know the Canon P fits a Canon 7 case perfectly and I have been told by a buyer the two cameras do fit the same case. I'll double check though.
Incidentally, I've also been told the Canon 7s and 7sz share the same chassis as the P and 7 too but the tripod socket is in a different place.

The Canon 7s and 7sZ are based on the Canon 7. The Canon P is more closely related to the Canon V-series and VI-series cameras, which are not at all related to the 7.
