is there a planar 50/2 equivalent ...

i have the 50/2.5 color skopar, and i had a canon 50/1.8. rats ... 🙂
the color skopar is very, very good. perhaps i should try films other than tri-x and hp5 for that look i'm looking for. the fuji 35/2 on my x100 has that "look" in digital.

True. In the end I sold it because the collapsibleness got in the way with my shooting, too often it wasn't extended...

And, it was perfect on an M camera, but the lens mount was too wide for a Barnack, making it look misplaced on that...

Now, I have the Color-Skopar 50/2.5 too, it's as sharp as the L-Hex to my eye, and fits a Barnack much better. Just as big as the collapsed L-Hex but always ready to shoot.

I may get one of these two sharpness kings. Maybe not; I have so many sharp lenses already.
The L-Hexanon looks very nice.

I like the Pentax 43mm 1.9-L a lot, and the Summicron Version 1 too. What is there not to like about the Summicron-C 40/2 or the Heliar lenses?

Paul if you wanted to really just go for it you could have MS optical convert a Contax G series Planar f2/45mm.
I had one done although I sold it. They do a great job converting the lens.

The Skopar sounds like the best bet for affordability. That Hexanon is beautiful but, collapsible is sort of a bust for some. Like Johan I don't really car for that type of lens.
