Hi, the elmar or hektor, industar-50/ 22 every lens like the elmar won´t make you no problem.
Anyway they´re pretty old, another solution would be the awesome rollei sonnar 40mm f 2.8 hft LTM lens.
You never notice it´s there and the results are very modern.
Look for one copy they´re not that expensive nad i regret selling it away!
Bye!

Yep, 35mm lenses are shorter than 50mm ones. The Summaron f3.5 comes to mind.
The 3.5cm 3.5 Elmar is the smallest 35Lens I can think of, sometimes I don't even notice it's on the camera!
And it is cheap and sharp at f/11

I have an Elmar 50mm 3.5 on my IIIc. I am looking through the viewfinder now with the lens extended. Nope, I cant see the lens.

My Nikkor-H 50/2 is fairly small. I'll tell you when I get my IIIf back from DAG
However the Summitar from what I remember intrudes into viewfinder a bit. I've got a Voigtlander Kontur viewfinder for framing.

Correct! Even extended the 50 3.5 Elmar isn't visible when looking through the finder. With the contemporary FISON hood on it, you'll see the hood, but just a bit, perhaps 15% of the bottom/right is obstructed; no big deal! Get an early 50's red scale and you'll have the tiniest and best possible combination for a Barnack.

Even a LTM 50mm F1.4 Nikkor will intrude into the viewfinder--just like a Summarit. About the only Barnack camera where you don't have this problem is the IIIg. With the IIIf, I've just accepted the fact I need a VIOOH for intrusion -free viewing....

The Summar is the other 50mm lens that clears the finder -- barely.

Yes, that was my finding as well.

I use a 50/1.5 Sonnar adapted to LTM, the lens *barely* can be seen at the bottom of the IIIc viewfinder. I never actually noticed it until I specifically looked for it, as prompted by this thread...
