Is there anyone shooting 6X7 anymore?

Yes, but SLR only. I have an Ansco Speedex I bought here, but the bellows leak and the rangefinder is uncoupled. I know what 'uncoupled rangefinder' means but it still bites me every time.

Stuart,

I posted the shot only because I thought it was the same location as your little ID photo. Now I'm not so sure....

Mine was at San Simeon in central california. Where was yours?

The buildings had a remarkable similarity and thanks for your kind words.

Both my photos were taken in Santa Barbara. I think a lot of the Missions share some similar characteristics. Thanks again for the compliments.

A couple of pictures with Mamiya 7II

A couple of pictures with Mamiya 7II

Here are a couple of pictures I took in India last year. I also took the camera to Rome the year before. You can see a few more pictures in my folder on the Mamiya Rangefinder Photography web site (link at my signature). One is taken at Amber Fort near Jaipur, with the "great wall" like wall on the mountain ridge, another is taken at the ruins of Qotb Minar in New Dehli. When I go travelling, I tend to take the Mamiya 7II. Except the time when I knew I wanted to take close-up photos of flowers which won't work too well so I took the Mamiya 645 instead.

I took the Plaubel 670 to Angkor Wat along with a Holga last week and very much enjoyed using it again handheld. 35mm film is what i usually work with on long term projects because of the faster lenses but for personal and gallery work i prefer to use 120.

A few days ago I used my Graflex Wide XLW with the 47mm Schneider lens. I could have used the 6x9 back for 21mm (in 35mm format) perspective, but I used a 6x7 back instead.

Ok, Raid, I'd like to see some shots from that outfit! I've been silent so far as I don't have a real RF in 6x7 format, just a "wannabe RF" in 6x7; here's a recent example, of the colorblind painter at work... :) (120mm SMCP Soft lens at f/22)

Doug,
I have sharp 20x30 prints from chromes taken with this outfit. The lens is the older 47mm/8 which reportedly had good and bad examples. The newer 47mm/5.6 is supposedly of higher quality.

edit: forgot I had already posted in this thread... sheesh.

One of my primary shooters is a horseman VHR with the 6x7 back. I love that beast.
It gets less use than the P or the Rollei - but it still gets used weekly. Daily when my self marketing is working.

From a stack of years ago, back in Indianapolis. Shot with the VHR on Provia 100.

75% of what I shoot is medium format roll film. Mamiya 7II is the bulk of it, but I now have a companion Gaoersi 4x5 "point and shoot" w/ 75mm and 47mm lenses together with 6x9 and 6x12 backs.

Here is a recent shot using the Mamiya:

This summer I've been on the island of Moloka'i, Hawai'i, and I've been shooting mostly 4x5" with my Linhof Tech V, but I brought a 6x7 back and about 10 rolls of Fuji RMS (the last of a box of 100 rolls I've had in the freezer for a few years). I've been using it mostly for bird photos with a cammed 360/5.5 Tele-Xenar--waterfowl in places where they are relatively approachable. I normally photograph birds with a 35mm SLR and 600/4.5, so this is in theory "all the wrong gear," but maybe I'll get something interesting. I'll know when I get home in a few weeks.

I've also got a Tech V 23 that natively shoots 6x7 rollfilm and 2x3" sheet film, but haven't had my lenses cammed for it yet (have to make some long overdue repairs to the 4x5" Technika first), so I've been using it view camera style in the meanwhile.

I use my Mamyia RB67 frequently for location work for my commercial clients, but since that is a SLR and not appropriate to this forum, I don't post any images from it, even though I have used it for non-commercial work.

Yes, I still shoot 6x7, but not with a rangefinder. The largest I shoot with a rangefinder is 6x4.5 on my Bronica RF645. Which I seriously love!

Can't believe this thread is still active.
Taking my M7 with Tmax and 150mm to studio night tonight. Watch for some scans soon! Won 1st Place Indiana State Fair with shot using this set up.

I'm done with 6x7 -- no, not what you think. I now have a 6x9 Voigtlander Bessa II which I use whenever I can't use my large-format camera ;)
