Here are some pics i did against a light source. I see this weird shape like a "W" .. Looking throught it seems darker than it should but workable.
I bought the camera on the classifieds here some 5 yrs ago and never used it. I live in a very humid climate butleft the camera inside a cabinet in the driest possible place at home. Everything else, shutter and curtains, is working well.

It looks like haze accumulation on an internal surface to me. I think your VF needs cleaning. I wonder why I can't see the RF patch in your pictures.

Definitely time for a clean.
Look at the RF mirror thru small window.
Does it look like old auto glass, spider webs etc.?
M3 is slightly darker than later M's but very clear.
Many, many years ago my RF-unit was replaced at a Leitz service..
The price was awesome.
This piece applies to another forum question as well.
"Are M3 viewfinders darker?".

In the tropics, the main enemy of metal, electronics included, and glass is corrosion and mold. I hope it's not mold.

Sent to Celso Eberahrdt, Leica certified tech in Sao Paulo w/ an excellent rep within the photography community.
It can be fixed, he says, at $200. I will get it back in 15 days.
All my photo gear that sat unused in the last 3 yrs is either filled w/ mould or destroyed.
