I'm interested in the ZI, and will probably go for this 35mm lens to start out with. How does this package sound to you guys? I'm assuming that the camera and lens will be new, but it does say that the package will not be shipped with the original box for both camera body and lens, just the carrying case you see in the picture.

I wouldn't mind buying a used (but in mint condition) ZI, but it doesn't seem like I can find any these days. Oh well, I'm not ready quite yet, just looking for now.

Thanks in advance for any input you guys can offer!

Ciao
just in case you would be the same of Nikoncafe, for what I see here in Italy it would mean they give you for free the lens and the lens shade (I estimated the whole offer around 1470€ which is more or less the cost of Zeiss Ikon alone, not discounted)

Probably in Japan (namely some stores like Matsuiyastore on ebay, which sells lots of this stuff) you could get something cheaper but I'm not aware of current offers there.

If you were in Europe you might contact another austrian member since I know he's selling a LNIB Zeiss Ikon body only around 900€ (then you should have to look for a lens, though, but this is your business, I just want to spot an alternative choice if you want).

Hi Dino,

Yes, it's me from Nikon Cafe. It's completely your fault that you made me enamored with rangefinders, especially the ZI. All your fault!!

😉😛

Thanks for the information, Dino! Unfortunately, I'm in the United States, so I don't think the suggestion you gave will work for me.

If you are interested in a box for a ZI body, strap, instruction book, body cap, everything except the actual camera body as well as a ZI 35mm lens box, packing material, Zeiss lens caps, everything but the actual lens; let me know. I am just a photographer who likes the Zeiss Ikon bodies and lenses but has no use for the boxes and all the accessories. I have no problem with aftermarket lens caps and do not need instructions.

Tony Rose is a first class guy to buy from.

This is the current promotion from Zeiss. You get body and lens selected by hand by Zeiss, fitted into the case, with discount. The presentation case is in lieu of a cheap cardboard box ... what's not to like? I am certain you will get all documentation and warranty cards.

If I were budgeted for this I would take it in a heartbeat. Only in black, Joe is wrong in that regard. 😉

Ciao Jerry
he he he I knew I had created a new monster hungry of ZAS ! 😀
Actually for our market it would be a great deal but, again, here offers about RF cameras are very few if none at most. Or you purchase straightly from Zeiss in Germany otherwise those very few resellers present make whatever price they want.

Welcome here, though, I'm sure you will enjoy this forum (RFF in general)

Great deal
I purchase the Ikon collector set a few months back with the 28/2.8 lens all black.
Im very happy with it and the display box it comes with is very nice

I have both a black ZI body and a silver ZI body. Some of my Zeiss lenses are black, some silver. Some of my CV lenses are black, some silver.

After I dress to go out and photograph, I stand in front of the mirror with the various bodies and lenses. Then I make the very important fashion decision if I should use the black or silver body and if my choice is better accessorized by a black or silver lens. Never forget how critical your look is.

The first paragraph is 100% true and the second paragraph is totally false. In reality I can find no difference in the body or lens color. I never been able to find any difference in the photos or even looking through the viewfinder. Actually I always buy used and bought whatever was the best deal.

i normally prefer a black camera but for some reason i think that the zi is more handsome in silver.

bob, you look pretty good (assuming that's you in the avatar pic) and would look good with either silver or black camera in hand.
i, on the other hand, would need much more than an attractive camera to help my cause😉
