Is this an ebay scam?

Be wary of 2nd chance offers, especially if it seems too good to be true, as you say. There are all kinds of stories of people getting ripped off by these 2nd chance emails. It's very likely a scam.

NO it's not. I also got an offer and I asked ezbid about this and he said the following:

Thanks for your response...NO THIS IS A FRAUD!!!
someone ended my listing and sent those out. I have a complaint in to ebay. Do not take any offers on this item. I will relist the camera next week when this all blows over. BTW, the rangefinder is fine!

As there were a whole stack of bids higher than yours and it didn't sell for the first time when it reached over $1600, I would say that someone other than the seller is trying to scam you. I bet it came through your email and not my messages in eBay!

If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. 😉

It actually came from EBAY. That is what was so scary about it. I often get ebay scammers that send emails. I always write back telling them to give me their address, phone number and I will call them to verify. I NEVER get another email back.

That comment is by far the most sensible approach you can take with these situations. When I was new to ebay I got offered an M7 for $1200.00 and was very excited intil my son, an experienced eByer, burst my bubble!

If someone offers a $1600.00 item for that price it's fairytail stuff... these guys are so dumb. If I was trying to scam someone I'd at least be smart enough to offer it for a very cheap but realistic price, so as to arouse less suspicion!

I would say as a rule that every second chance offer you get from eBay is a fraud. Discard them all. I get them all the time since I started bidding on eBay. I nearly fell for the first one I received but caught myself before it was too late. I usually respond to these offers via email with best wishes to the sender for a sexually explicit experience for the rest of his life in prison.
