Wow. Never read such a stupid thing. Sorry but they mix up things. Coding lenses has nothing to do with the selection of the frameline. This is always done mechanically from the early analog Ms up to the digital Ms (including M-E). With the M-E you lose the ability to manually switch to a different frameline just to check how this scene might look with a different lens.
 
True, mechanically, but the digital M bodies do rely on a combination of the selected frameline & the coding for some lenses to write EXIF, impart corrections, etc., e.g., original 28-35-50 Tri-Elmar.
