Actually i guess the title should be:
Talking about the E-P3? With a built-in viewfinder?!?!
Hey, have you all seen this?:
http://43rumors.com/new-microfourthirds-camera-in-the-first-half-of-2010/
I know it's probably too early to talk about the E-P3 but that's just what we thought about the E-P2 a few months ago. Though i doubt the the E-P3 would make a similarly hasty entrance.
Now nothing's confirmed, but they may be possibly considering an IN-BUILT VIEWFINDER!! And even though they talk about the first half of next year, i wouldn't expect their next camera to be available til much later than that.
Anyway, since i use manual lenses, i think that in-built viewfinder would pretty much complete the Pen for me. Now i just don't know what to do. I was going to get the E-P2 real soon but I'm thinking maybe i should just get my Bessa R4A as my film option first and consider my digital option when that camera finds its way onto the market.

I can't understand this discussion. If you need a mFT camera with an built in electronic viewfinder then get the Panasonic G1.
But always waiting for the next camera generation and never buying is obviously a lot cheaper.

Possibly, but the G1's finder is pretty poor. It would be interesting to see how far the next generation of these cameras improves on it.

yes, you're quite right tom.. I'm just trying to highlight the progression of Olympus with the m4/3 system and the Pen, particularly for those who have a preference for the Pen.. I'm sorry if you feel it's a poor discussion.. Maybe it is, but i just thought it would interest some people...

yea it would.. indeed, as is mentioned, any finder they decide to build in in the future will probably be of a higher definition.. this is an important point i didn't really mention...

I wish it had a RF in there. Then sales would go thru the roof....

With "higher definition" do you mean a higher resolution of the finder? For me that is not the main problem with the finder. Resolution ist Ok for me. I have problems that in low light the refresh rate goes down.
In good lighting situations I like the viewfinder. In low light situations I don't

It's been, what a month or so since Olympus introduced a new Pen digital? It's clearly past time for a new camera from them!

Maybe...but at least without the ugliness of that frankencamera!

It's worth noting that that picture is a fan mockup, not any real design.

I know this is light hearted, but the e-px line is so far very different to the G1 - I LOVE the handling of the e-p1 body, and I (frankly) don't love the g1 body nor it's handling.

I thought the G1, for all its faults, was a much more coherent design than the Pen. The E-P1 mock-ups looked good but the final product... that top plate always looks to me like it was slapped on as an afterthought to cash in on the original Pen F's anniversary.Maybe...but at least without the ugliness of that frankencamera!

I'm not going to lie, besides that samsung competitor, the G1 is one of the ugliest camera's I've ever seen - a far cry from the L1 which was really pretty.

No they would not. The majority of camera buyers really cannot be bothered by making two pieces of the picture match up.
We're still a niche market here.
And no, I don't think this will be the next Pen EP-something. The image caption on the site reads: "A famous Pen fake with built-in viewfinder"
It's simply another Photoshop exercise, that's all. At least until it sells.

Yea, that was actually a mockup of how the e-p2 was supposed to look..
Personally, in terms of looks, i lean much more toward the pen.. However i have to say it's subjective as to how the functionality of each camera suits an individual...

Don't think so. I assume that 80-90% of the mFT buyers don't even know what a RF is. So if they had a real RF then some of us here were lucky but in sum they would lose a lot of buyers.

It's the famous fake e-p2.. It's not a photo of any camera they're talking about...

The Pen and the G1 are to completely different cameras.
The Pen for me is about my personal work. The G1 is about $work.
Not to say they don't interchange but coming from Leica M's, that's how I use the 2.
The results are similiar with the Pen somewhat better in higher ISO and low light images.
I'm not talking AF, just images. I have given my 5D stuff to my friend as the G1 fills that gap.
