Is this Haze or something else?

I might have to pick up some of the super-cheap 61L/Ds on ebay in the future from Ukraine's down the road just to swap out elements between the best of them.

Trying to remember what kind of grease was best for the focusing helical. Lithium?

Use a lithium grease with a high and low temp rating.

You do not want a grease that runs like a liquid in hot weather or gets cement stiff in freezing winter weather.

I used some rather thicker Dow 44 silicone based grease in my 61l/z , still smooth but
it helped remove any slop from the focusing helix . Peter
ps: it has very high temp and good low temp stability.

I have some silicone grease (90/10) that I use for fountain pen restoration. But I wouldn't use it with optics. Even though it's thicker for eye dropper pen filling, silicon grease has a habit of traveling over time.
