Hi all!
I want to become one of you, hence I'm looking into buying an RF
I have an option on a Konica Hexar RF with a Voigtlander Skopar 35mm f2.5 PII for $845 (appr 650 euros)
is this a fair deal?
Cheers,

If condition is good, then it's a good price, check out eBay for the typical prices, such as this one...
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/EX-Konica...758916647?pt=Film_Cameras&hash=item415e891627
About the same cost, but no lens.

Here is the issue with the RF as I understand it:
1- some early ones had a bad RF mechanism. So bad it can't be repaired and needs replacement.
2- when Konica went belly up, some zealous person there threw several bags full of parts to the dumpster before anyone (the regular Konica repair places) could buy them.
For years now, I'm doing 1+2, and stay away from the RF's although the camera in itself is VERY tempting...

I haven't been looking at prices lately, but if the camera is in good condition with the viefinder clean and bright, the RF patches nice and contrasty and the RF well aligned and all other functions working then it sounds OK to me. Probably not great, but OK.
The Hexar RF is a great camera. It's what I started with, still use - and I have a 2nd just in case one of them breaks.
Do understand that once you get an M-Mount camera, well, that's just the start of the madness!

I think this is irrelevant. It hasn't sold. I've seen them going for $500, which is about right - it's worth paying more, but only if you know it to be a good one, with the later RF mechanism.
Mine was one of the bad ones. Waited six months for the RF part, when I got it, sold it on at a loss. THey are good, innovative cameras, but not s surefire bet like the Hexar AF.

True, I checked out the 'sold' prices in eBay too, and that price is around the middle, some more, some less, body only. A boxed, mint one, went for $1100. Another, which required adjustment, sold for around $500.

There is one Zeiss Ikon (M-mount) for sale here locally in helsinki for 595€ and when you can still find an Leica M2 or M3 for ~500€ i'd go with any of these. Just made a deal for a M2 myself.
