Is this Legit?

I don't know anything about Leica stuff, but that is a very interesting Yashica MAT he is offering. I wouldn't care for it myself. I often thought it would be neat to be able to use a porro finder on my Rollei, but I would not want to be locked in to it as with this Yashica. Still, for someone, that will be THE trick camera to have.

Frank,

The white s/n is the only odd thing I noticed. In some of the shots, the lens s/n is not filled in white (same #); I think someone "Filled" the s/n with chalk, white china pencil, or similar thing to make the # "pop" for the listing photo.

Otherwise, the Elmar looks just like my pre-War Elmar 35.

No Leica knowledge here but I see a perfect feedback rating and the guy's been selling a lot of cameras lately. Knows enough to test a Vito II shutter with film, for example, his most recent sale. I would have bought that one (but I already have 2 of them...).

What an awful, off-putting color scheme, though. Sure does make one hesitate a moment.

I agree that it seems legit.

The lens serial number being white is the only thing that differs from the pictures in Lager's Illustrated Guide vol II. It matches the attributes Lager indicates for a late '30s version. The serial number would make it a very early 1939 production.

The body is hardly the listed "near excellent" condition cosmetically and the shutter release collar is missing. The serial number is one that was assigned to a batch of II's made in 1939 so the body wouldn't be a refitted Model I. All the attributes Lager lists for the II match what the pictures show, down to the number of screws in the accessory shoe.
